Virtual Explorers: Children in Zvolen discovered the universe through VR

Experience‑based learning supported by the City of Zvolen and 3Dmix.sk – the results speak for themselves.

A unique project called “Virtual Explorers” was successfully carried out in Zvolen, bringing modern education through virtual reality directly into the classrooms of a church elementary school. Over the course of two weeks, 54 students participated in the program, experiencing the CosmosXR space module and other interactive activities. The project was created with the support of the City of Zvolen and 3Dmix.sk, which helped make this innovative form of learning accessible to children.

Despite limited financial resources, it was possible to deliver fully-fledged lessons. The results are clearly measurable: the average success rate of correct answers increased from 29.6% to 86.5%, representing an improvement of 192%. Every student improved without exception – girls achieved progress of +213.8%, boys +185.7%. The lessons were dynamic and engaging – the children put on VR headsets, found themselves directly in space, and could explore planets, stars, and galaxies.

Each lesson began with a short explanation followed by a virtual journey. The students laughed, eagerly asked questions, and spontaneously commented on what they saw. The atmosphere was full of joy and curiosity – many admitted that this way they remember the material better than from a textbook. The lessons received a rating of 4.65 out of 5. The purchased VR equipment remains the property of the association and will be used in other schools, clubs, and camps as well.
